Part-Time Finance Role with Flexibility

As the finance officer you will use your strong business and accounting skills to provide financial management to the South Australian Dairyfarmers’ Association. Utilising strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills, you will work with the leaders of the organisations to carry out best business practice. 

South Australian Dairyfarmers’ Association (SADA) is a not-for-profit organisation representing dairy farmers in South Australia. 

The organisation advocates for their members, working with government, businesses and the wider community to create a strong, viable and productive sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Overseeing and managing the day to day financial operations including fortnightly payroll (5 employees), debtor and creditor management, IAS and BAS preparation and lodgement, and other transactions.
• Ensuring all month end processes are completed including reconciliations, corporate credit cards, P and L reporting and variance to budget summaries (including project level reporting)
• Ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
• Preparation and review of annual budgets
• Monitoring and reporting to senior managers and executives about the organisation’s finances through periodical and annual reviews
• Managing the organisations financial systems including Xero and Dext
• Providing financial advice to the management team regarding opportunities for improvement
• Liaising and assisting auditors with the preparation of annual financial statements
• Supporting the team in project preparation, decision making and analysis
• Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field is essential, CPA or CA a plus
• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Previous accounting experience is essential including financial reporting and taxation
• Experience in the Not-for-Profit sector desirable

• Ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level business partners
• Experience using XERO or a similar product
• Sound skills in Excel
• An ability to think broadly, take a whole of organisation view and see beyond “just the numbers”
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Knowledge of agriculture desirable but not essential
