Consultation on the New Biosecurity Bill is currently open.

Biosecurity Bill

Consultation on the New Biosecurity Bill is currently open. PIRSA hosted a number of sector specific webinars during the week of August 21-25 to provide stakeholders with the opportunity to learn about what is proposed by the draft Bill and to raise any queries.

A video of the Biosecurity Bill general overview presentation by Nathan Rhodes, Executive Director Biosecurity, PIRSA is now available on PIRSA’s website for those who were unable to attend a session.

The proposed Bill is intended to enable a modern approach to biosecurity management, providing a contemporary framework to strengthen protection of South Australia’s economy, terrestrial and aquatic environments and community from pests and diseases and other biosecurity matter. The Bill proposes to consolidate several existing Acts covering plant health, livestock, the dog fence, management of stray stock and relevant provisions of fisheries legislation, bringing consistency to biosecurity management across industries.

SADA is asking for any feedback from it's members to assist us in our submission on the draft Bill, please contact us through the office on 8293 2399 or email sada@sada.asn.au with your recommendations or for any further queries.

Consultation on the draft Biosecurity Bill remains open until Tuesday 26 September 2023. Feedback on the draft Bill is to be provided via the YourSAy website.

On the YourSAy website you will find a consultation survey, explanatory guide and supporting documents. PIRSA welcomes any feedback on the draft Bill and feedback is encouraged to be via the survey on the YourSAy website.
