SADA congratulates Narelle Zanker on the National Rural Women’s Award Win

The South Australian Dairyfarmers’ Association (SADA) proudly congratulates Mannum dairy farmer, educator and SADA member Narelle Zanker on being named the 2026 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award national winner.

Narelle was recognised at last night's Gala Dinner in Canberra, where she represented South Australia alongside finalists from across the country.

Her national win is a tremendous achievement and well-deserved recognition of her dedication to agricultural education, dairy farming and strengthening connections between farmers and the broader community.

Narelle co-founded Dairy Adventures, an initiative designed to connect people with the origins of their food. Drawing on her background in teaching and school agriculture programs, she delivers engaging, hands-on farm experiences that help bridge the gap between urban communities and the dairy industry.

SADA CEO Andrew Curtis said Narelle’s achievement was a proud moment for South Australia’s dairy industry.

“Narelle is an outstanding advocate for dairy farming, agriculture and regional communities. To see her recognised as Australia’s Rural Woman of the Year is an incredible achievement, and one that the entire South Australian dairy industry can be proud of,” he said.

“Through Dairy Adventures, Narelle is helping consumers better understand where their food comes from and building meaningful connections between farmers and the community. Her passion for education and her ability to tell the story of dairy is making a real difference.”

“This award shines a national spotlight on the innovation, leadership and contribution of women in agriculture, and Narelle is a fantastic example of that.”

SADA President Robert Brokenshire also congratulated Narelle on the national recognition.

“Narelle has done an incredible job representing South Australian dairy farmers on the national stage. She is passionate about our industry and passionate about sharing its story, and this award is recognition of the impact she is having,” he said.
