1. Water meters
There are 155 “swamp” water meters. The Recipient will arrange engage with Lower Murray irrigators to undertake the coordinated and timely decommissioning and recommissioning of approximately 120 water meters in line with Department of Environment and Water protocols by accredited contractors, to ensure dewatering capacity is available to return inundated swamps to production as soon as practicable following any inundation consequent of higher than usual River Murray flows.
2. De-watering pumps
There are 15 Private Irrigation Trusts which operate on the lower reaches of the River Murray. Each Irrigation Trust maintains a dewatering pump to assist with drainage. The Recipient will liaise with Irrigation Trusts, contractors and regulators to ensure established infrastructure is best placed to remain in commission and available to support dewatering should inundation occur. It is envisaged that this would result in the delivery of nine to ten pumps able to operate following inundation.
